Prof Eske Willerslev of University of Cambridge, in the U.K. and his team of researchers, find Southeast Asians ancestry coming from at least four different ancient populations; DNA extraction analysed from 8,000 year-old skeletons from Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan. India, China, and Sri Lanka were excluded from this study for obvious reasons
Those who work on the human occupation history of Southeast Asia do not read the ancient history of the region; they do not know how ancient migration took place form the ‘first land’. Ancient Chin is not represented by its present counterpart, and similar is the case with ancient India. Sri Lanka, Simhal, Ceylon, Oja-dvipa, Taprobane and Lanka are names of four different places. But Sri Lankan government considers all the names as referring to the ancient Sri Lanka. Anciently, they were the Romans; King Vijaya was world’s first ancient migrant from Kalinga to Simhala. DNA will not reveal ancient occupation history; but our Geneticists believe what has been written in DNA not in ancient history.
It is very interesting to know from where this name of Asia has been derived; it will help to look at the ancient migration. But our Geneticists are not in a position to read this.
