Name of Przewalski has been misunderstood by scholars, Jan Marek of Prague Zoo curator should not be delighted on the return of four Przewalski horses from Prague to Mongolia saying that the horses returned home.
Stories of horses highlight the geographical elements of the ‘first-land’ only; Ptolemy in some of his maps has pinpointed the region where such horses were first originated. Even Pliny the Elder has identified the region in his NH where horse-faced people were anciently found. There was an ancient tribe in the name of horse; and the horse-driven chariots were then drawn by ancient Chin people only.
Indian puranic tradition apart from telling the story on origin of horses, speaks on Pakshiraj-horse which was flying in the sky. Epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata mention how these horses were then used for travelling. Jataka stories also provide literary evidence on geographical plains where these horses were then bred.
Przewalski is the corrupt name for ‘Pakshiraj’ or the winged-horses. Its ancient home cannot be in Mongolia or Prague; latter points to Prayag, and the former stands for the ancient country of Mangala. This part of the etymology of ancient names should be carefully observed before throwing any views on ancient world.
